Urethritis

Urethritis

Urethritis refers to the inflammation
of the urethra in both men and women. Painful and uncomfortable
urination is the number one symptom. To confirm, immediate
consultation with a doctor is necessary. Urethritis is a bacterial
infection; and it is likely contracted through unprotected sex. It is
either gonococcal urethritis or nongonococcal. Gonococcal urethritis
is caused by neisseria gonorrhoeae while the other one is caused
likely by chlamydia trachomatis.

More About Urethritis

Urethritis is considered a sexually transmitted disease. Basic prevention includes limiting sexual activity within monogamous relationships, and the strict practice of protected sex. However, this does not mean one can’t get infected. Urethritis may also be caused by chemical irritants, such as soaps, lotions, and powders. In fact, even contraceptives and spermicides can cause the disease.
